A visit by the Double D

The double D is Diedre of course and her visit was a wonderful distraction from our daily routine. It's been so long since we've seen her that it was a treat to visit and hang out. Funny how the best parts of people just become better like a fine wine. Of course Diedre is no wine.... rather a Yukon'er. I guess that makes her a better Jack.

While we did not partake of the sacred liqueur, we did discuss world politics, global warming, US health reform and the merits of SPAM. Not that email stuff, rather the nutritional food product that comes in 12 varieties. Personally, I prefer the "Grey Poupon" of SPAM... PREM. I know what your thinking, but when society collapses and anarchy runs supreme we'll all be looking for that dusty can on some shelf.

While we did not have the opportunity to head to the mountains or push the physical limits, we did consume some dubious food products, beverages and visit with a few good friends.

With Evan being so young we've found you need to enjoy the little achievements as big ones. Like sleeping through the night, potty training success and getting a night out. Not succumbing to the things that can drag you down is a challenge in itself so kudos to you out there with kids.

Well a visit by DD and Evan hits the big six months. What can I say.... look ma no hands!

"Man"essorizing

Men aren't known for their accessorizing and there is good reason. See below

Facial hair is a wonderful thing.... allows us males to change our appearance, kind of like how women go in for a new haircut. Most men would have the same haircut from high school if;

a.) it was possible (sorry for those that lack the ability)

b.) was cheap (who wants to pay 30 bucks for a haircut!)

c.) they never got married (women seem to want to go out into public)

There are a still a few people out there that have managed this, but I think they still live at home and play dungeons and dragons.

Regardless, I was involved in a contest at school and grew out my facial hair. After a good three months I did reach a "Grizzly Adams" beginner stage. Makes me wonder how long it took to grow his.

I decided to play around with the beard after a quick visit to www.beards.org/ where I found a variety of choices. I thought I would post a few of them.

So in closing... "Man"essorizing & facial hair, an experiment that left a few people in this house smiling.

The New Year

Well this year was pretty low key, as we spent time with the Hironaka family. Clay invited us over to his folks place and the hospitality was amazing, almost as amazing as the house. With good food and family an evening becomes a memorable experience.

Honestly, I walk out of school at 12:30 and it's just starting to snow and by noon the next day, I feel like I've dug myself out of the next ice age. Only thing missing were the mammoths. I did see some Neanderthals riding Skidoo's in front of the house. Take that Victoria!

No really, you West Coasters have gotten soft. I don't think you could take a real LOMAH winter now. There's something Canadian about shoveling snow, wearing Sorrels and drinking maple syrup like coffee. Well at least I'm 2 out of 3.

I guess I do like Oatmeal

Not sure how I came across this but it was both outrageous and funny. I saw the picture and thought of you Liminal Me.

Not that you would put a cat in the toilet, but you know cats... your a cat person so I thought of you. I think mostly because you're always posting cat stuff or maybe because you kinda "cat called" me out. Regardless enjoy the cartoon.
