LOMAH - Land of Milk and Honey

Just living life here in the Promised Land, Southern Alberta. Where the Mountains meet the prairie in a stunning sunset, surrounded in fields of gold

Kayking - S Bend

An old picture, surfing the S Bend on the Red Deer River with Denali keeping a watchful eye. It was a perfect day, surrounded by perfect friends.

Family in Waterton

A summer hike with the family and Grandparents. It was a typical Waterton day with some wind and sun. Logan hiked the whole way in to Bertha Falls

Loves of my Life

The first two loves of my life together in one picture. I remember when they came into my life, making me whole.

Me in the Broken Group

I think this is my favourite picture from last year. We did a sea kayaking trip to the Broken Group and had 4 glorious days of sun. It was a capped off with the company of great friends.

Gung hei faat choi

Happy New Year! Well it's a new year based on the much older calendar. I'm not sure if the Chinese use the Roman or Julian calendar, but regardless it's not the Gregorian, which is what we use.

This weekend I was helping with the Chinese Cultural Societies Banquet as we celebrated the year of the pig or boar.
What can we expect in the coming year? Well here is one prediction;

"This will be a year of goodwill to all. An excellent climate for business, and industry in general will prevail. People will be more free and easy on the whole and the complaisant attitude of the Boar will generate a feeling of abundance. But in spite of the favorable auspices here, like the Boar we will hesitate, waver and undermine our own abilities when opportunity calls.

The Boar's year is one of plenty. La dolce vita is very much advocated and practiced by the sensual Boar. If life is worth living, it must be lived to the hilt. Such is his motto. The Boar is as lavish with gifts as he is with affection. He takes pride in being chivalrous and extravagant. It would be ill-advised to overspend this year or make sizable investments without thorough investigation. We may also come to regret impulsive acts of generosity made on the spur of the moment."

Logan was born last year, the year of the dog. According to the same site, his traits are as follows.

"The Dog will never let you down. Born under this sign they are honest, and faithful to those they love. They are however, plagued by constant worry, a sharp tongue, and a tendency to be a fault finder. The dog's main ambition is to please. The desire to please often leads the dog to periods of anxiety, worrying that they are not doing their best. What other people think is important to a dog, and this can also lead to anxiety, and they can become very pessimistic when things aren't going well. They would make an excellent businessman, activist, teacher, or secret agent."

Sweet! My son will be the next 00 MI6 Agent! 006 perhaps?

To determine your sign try this site. It's pretty simple to use.

Stumbled Upon.....

Low and behold, I've stumbled upon something interesting. I came across Rankin's new website. If you don't know Rankin, he's a guy. Nice guy. Well I think he's nice.
Anyways, he's apparently doing photography in Toronto. You can check some of his stuff out on his website www.rankenshimazaki.com, it's full of some great images.

I've always been impressed with his photography so I hope he can make a go of it. Good Luck Bud!

Katsuta Kup

So my dad called me up saying he was looking at my blog. Said he wanted me to do a sin city picture for him. Sure I said, thinking what the heck is he talking about?!!? It's common knowledge that everyone has a dad who wants a cool picture of themselves holding a gun saying something "cheese-y". Turns out he wanted me to do something for his Judo tournament that's coming up pretty quick.

From Desktop
Messing around with a few buttons I layered in some red with a cool lighting effect to produce this! As well, my dad is planning on using it for the logo on the tournaments T-shirts. I wonder what the royalties are on something like that? Probably a free shirt?!
Regardless, if anyone is around and they want to watch, it's held in Raymond at the LDS Stake Centre. It's the large brown building on the left side, about the middle of the map.

My Mistress

No really I do have one. Her name is Silvia and she is sooooooooo sweet! The fact is she's our mistress as Dora could not live without her. She's a product of Rancilio and she makes our life better in so many ways.
I've had a few friends ask how we get her to perform so well and I thought I would give you all a little demo.

Here's her instructions
1. Danesi Bean.(classic or gold)
2. Solis Grinder, basically a Starbucks Barista grinder (with its finest grind)
3. Distilled water (prevents build-up by hard water), although some claim that it affects the taste. Mix in some tap water to fix this problem

See the Magic....

I've had a few people ask about getting emails when I update the blog. Here's how you can do that.

Danger Danger High Voltage!

Well I've started my welding class. Oh the fun of high voltage! The funny thing is the voltage that I'm using is only around 19 volts. I'm sure the amps are pretty high, so best to be careful when touching stuff eh?
I go to the college every Monday night for about 6 weeks and learn the finer points about MIG welding. So far... well lets just say the welds would hold. Here's a shot of my first weld ever and another weld later that night.

From 2007-01-29-22...

I think I got better ;)
