LOMAH - Land of Milk and Honey

Just living life here in the Promised Land, Southern Alberta. Where the Mountains meet the prairie in a stunning sunset, surrounded in fields of gold

Kayking - S Bend

An old picture, surfing the S Bend on the Red Deer River with Denali keeping a watchful eye. It was a perfect day, surrounded by perfect friends.

Family in Waterton

A summer hike with the family and Grandparents. It was a typical Waterton day with some wind and sun. Logan hiked the whole way in to Bertha Falls

Loves of my Life

The first two loves of my life together in one picture. I remember when they came into my life, making me whole.

Me in the Broken Group

I think this is my favourite picture from last year. We did a sea kayaking trip to the Broken Group and had 4 glorious days of sun. It was a capped off with the company of great friends.

Visit with Old Friends

Well Jen was down and so was Liz! We quickly conferenced and decided that a picnic was in order so off to Popson we went. The weather was awesome and the river bottom was exceptional as well. And the company? Of course it was the best part of the day!

Well after spending a great deal to time throwing rocks into the Oldman, we had a bite to eat and headed home. You can see the rest of the pics here

It was refreshing to hang out with some old friends, one who we haven't seen from our Yukon trip in 2004! So in tribute of that trip, I've posted a few pics into a picasa album. Enjoy

Wow, sucks to be in Edmonton eh?

Funny how thing can change on a dime. Just when we thought spring was here, we get hit with snow. Oh well, it could be worse for us in LOMAH, we could be in Edmonberia!

CBC has a nice report on the recent snowstorm in Edmonton

Red Shirt

I love the classic ensign ricky thing that happened quite often on the old star trek. Here's a bit of humor I found related to it.

Cameras are heavy...

So this is for you mom...no pics sorry. You'll have to take my word for it.

Yesterday to clear our lungs from all the campfire and pine scented fresh air my good buddy and I decided to go for a little run around Stanley Park. I don't think that I had spent any time there since we went with Nana in 86. At least, I had a hard time remembering another time...anyway, we ran around the seawall and I got to check that off my list. It was beautiful. The cherry and magnolia trees are flowering and their petals litter the ground. The waves swell and crash into the beach. Gulls, loons even a raccoon in a tree; lots to see on the run. All of that distraction helped me to run my first consecutive 10k distance. In 70 minutes. Pretty fun. Today my goal is to walk around the little shops and get the kinks out.

Vancouver Two

The end of day one was pretty late. We were up late playing Settlers of Catan. It was way more fun than I thought it would be. A game of trading, building, luck and laughter. I did not win, but I came close!
So day two found the ladies heading out to Golden Ears Park for a little hiking and camping. We set up tarp city and the tent, bought some wood and set out for a hike. After only one wrong turn and about 40 minutes we found ourselves at the falls. It was wet!

The water was not falling any great distance, but the spray was getting everywhere! We made friends with the locals, took a photo and made our way back to camp for dinner.
(Sorry about the photo on it's side, I don't know how to change that right now...I'll get to it later)
It was a nice change to have a campfire, though smelly. Someone had even been so thoughtful as to stock the stump for us so the beer was cold upon our return from the hike. Yummm, so nice and cold...

It was especially nice to sleep in a tent in my awesome sleeping bag. It was pretty cold outside and even rained a bit. But I was toasty warm and dry inside my Tern. I have missed camping. We'll have to get out again soon my boys...

Vancouver One

So day one found me in Calgary at Jeff's place. He was nice enough to drive me to the airport at 7:30AM on a Saturday (read: good brother). My good buddy then picked me up, complete with new haircut and took me out for coffee (yum). We hit the Running Room sale with a friend of hers, bought some shoes and made our way back to her place. We dropped off my things and met up with Steven and Doug for a little hike.

Doug took us down some crazy biking trail. Thought the brothers might like to see what mtn bikers get up to out here. Fun to walk down (or up) but I don't think too fun to bike...for me anyway. Doug seemed to think it looked like good fun.

Yup, I finally met Doug. It's been a while as he has been out here as long as I have been in the "group". He is as nice as his photos and even let me sit in his vehicle and pretend to drive. Steven thought that I should be able to really drive it, but I didn't want to push my luck, we'd only just met! It was new to Doug, though not brand new. It looked pretty damn new though. Clean inside and out. Steven was trying to show Doug how to highlight it's assets. It's all in the arch...

We then stopped in Deep Cove for a honey doughnut which turns out to be the size of an apple, except that it is dense fried dough soaked in honey. Holy crapoly batman...it was tasty!!

Dora on Vacation 2

A little hello from your "boys"

Dora on Vacation 1

Well Dora is in Vancouver visiting with friends while I survive here at home. It's been pretty good, but today we woke up to a surprise. See for yourself.
So enjoy yourself love and we'll see you soon!
