LOMAH - Land of Milk and Honey

Just living life here in the Promised Land, Southern Alberta. Where the Mountains meet the prairie in a stunning sunset, surrounded in fields of gold

Kayking - S Bend

An old picture, surfing the S Bend on the Red Deer River with Denali keeping a watchful eye. It was a perfect day, surrounded by perfect friends.

Family in Waterton

A summer hike with the family and Grandparents. It was a typical Waterton day with some wind and sun. Logan hiked the whole way in to Bertha Falls

Loves of my Life

The first two loves of my life together in one picture. I remember when they came into my life, making me whole.

Me in the Broken Group

I think this is my favourite picture from last year. We did a sea kayaking trip to the Broken Group and had 4 glorious days of sun. It was a capped off with the company of great friends.

March Madness 5 of 5

Well I did it! 5 days and 5 posts! I hope at least one of them was interesting for you... So here is the last one for the month.

A creative example of REUSE

Along with many of my recycle based posts this week, I thought I would continue the trend with some pictures of our chariot mod. Normally you can buy a ski attachment, but it costs like 200 bucks! So with a little ingenuity, I made my own out of an old pair of skis that I had sitting around the garage. This first try wasn't perfect, I've got a few fixes to make but overall it ran great (of course we did tip over once, but Logan slept right though it!) for our maiden voyage. Look to see the revised version later next month.

Thanks for reading and see you all next month.

March Madness 4 of 5

"The 3 R's: Remove, Re-Lay, Reuse"

Well here is another example of the "R's". Earlier this month I was asked to help with some light lifting for a friend's parents. It was actually an enjoyable experience, including a free drink and a bottle of wine. In addition, we also inherited a lovely bit of carpet that was on it's way to the dump. Our basement is currently unfinished so we thought that we could use it in our basement so that Dora and I could both have carpet under our feet, so over Easter we re-laid some old carpet that will hang out with us before it leaves for it's final journey to the dump.

On that note I am aware that you can recycle carpet as it's just a form of oil and apparently it provides a high energy return vs. using new material. In fact, recycling one ton of carpet saves 800 gallons of gasoline (according to National Geographic Jan '08). The problem is that I can't find any recyclers in Southern Alberta, so if anyone out there in cyberspace knows of anything, I'd be happy to hear.

March Madness 3 of 5

"The Fortress"

Well last night me and 3 other old buddies got together for some carnage in Team Fortress 2! What fun... it was my first time playing online since Command and Conquer RED ALERT back in University. Talk about a long time!
Regardless is was a fun night of getting fragged and chatting with the buds using a mic, a new twist vs. the old days of typing only. I only got reminded once by Dora to keep the noise down so I'll consider it a successful venture. Look out, I plan on reading up so next time I won't suck like a late-thirties, married with kid, trying to be young again but can't afford the convertible gamer.

"Fitness Promo"

I had to do a little promo for Dora and I thought I would post it. It was for her staff meeting as they were focusing on fitness and working together. I always enjoy playing around with Adobe Premiere when I have time.

I wonder if any of you have had this kind of day.

March Madness 1 of 5

Well it's been a while since my last post so here's a mad dash at the end of the month. I've got 6 days left in the month so I'm aiming for 5 more posts! Here goes

"The 3 R's: Reuse"

Well I've been busy at home and one of the things I've been up to is to build a home for Logan... Literally! I had an old cardboard box lying around so I thought I would make a house for him. Well it was fine but I never settle for fine if I have to.

After getting my hands on a couple of other boxes I constructed this masterpiece! Just think, these boxes could be recycled but instead they've made a quick stop to become a playhouse on they're way to the great blue bin! REUSE!

P.S. Can you find Dora?

We need a Montage!

I helped out Dora with a little bit of video editing to create a video montage to create interest in a project that she is doing in her Grad 9 class. Thought I would post it so you can see my awesome editing skills!

Back from the Vinyl Cafe

Well, Dora and I were lucky enough to get tickets to see Stuart McLean as he came through Lethbridge. We started off the evening with a nice dinner at Coco Pazzo where I got a pizza, as usual and Dora the wonderful plate of gnocchi. After the meal we rushed to the Yates and our seats. Stewart was great as usual, with his stories of Dave. For those were not familiar with Stuart McLean, he is a radio host at CBC of the Vinyl Café. His stories are always enjoyable and you can subscribe to them via Podcasts, which I recommend if you can't enjoy him on the radio. Although the stories are great, it was nice to watch live music again. in particular, I enjoyed the musical acts of Dala and Danny Michel. Both acts were fabulous offering different elements in the show. I'd hum you a tune, but that's not my forte. so instead I'll post their videos.

This is one of the songs that they played that got my attention right away. Let's see if it does the same for you..

Danny, we had heard before on CBC while Dora was preggo and we were driving across BC. His music caught Dora's attention, so we,'' be cheering for him at the Junos this year.

On a side note, Danny Michel is coming back to Lethbridge on March 27, at The Slice. Dora and I hope we can sneak out on Logan again for a night out, so here's hoping...

Superbowl Commercial

Here in Canada we don't get the real superbowl commercials. So for anyone who didn't see this one, including me, enjoy.

Long live Beta version 2?

Well, call me a fool, but I just bought a HD DVD player. It's the Xbox version and the deal was wicked! $39.99 for a high-def player! Considering Blu-ray is in the 400 buck range, this is a steal of a deal.

You can find it at Dell.ca as a sidebar deal. Now I know that HD is dead like Beta, but come on! 40 bucks for the player, movies that are on fire sale for 10 bucks! If I went Blue-ray and bought 10 movies, I'd be around 800 bucks and Dora would kill me. But instead, I get HD with 10 movies for $140.

Long live Beta 2!

New Adam Sandler Movie

Personally, I think Adam Sandler is funny. To prove it, here's the trailer for his new movie. I'll admit that "Little Nicky" was a low point , but hey... everyone's made a mistake!

Shoyu and nothin' but

I recently was on a friends blog and there was talk about soy sauce. Now the funny thing is I take my soy sauce (shoyu) seriously. No "china lily" is allowed in my house! I cringe at the thought of it really! Personally, I use Kikkoman. I know that higher quality stuff is out there, but I consider shoyu like wine. You can't always afford to buy the best bottle out there is you plan on drinking it on a regular basis. You find quality at a price you can afford and for me Kikkoman is the cats meow. If you don't believe me, watch Kikkoman in action!
